I love this time of year!!
This time of year reminds me of my Grandfather and
his wonderful gardens!
I was lucky enough to get some of his Lilac and
I will always treasure them. Each year I can hardly wait
for them to bloom so that I can have a vase in every room in my house.
(yes, I did say every room, just ask my kids)
I have to say thank you Grandpa for the gift of flowers that
you gave me. You taught me to stop and smell the flowers
and find the joy in nature. My grandfather was a wonderful man
that would always give flowers to anyone who walked by if he was working in his
flower garden. He always said a Lady should always have a flower.
Thank you Grandpa for your give of laughter and your green thumb (that I didn't get)
but most of all for the love that you gave your family, and letting us make wonderful memories with Grandma and you. What great memories they are!!!
I have to double Lilac and each year I wait for them to bloom,
most of the time they do not bloom at the same time.
This year I was so excited they did. So when you walk into
our house this is the first thing you see and smell.
(of course I put them in Grandpa's brandy snifter)
This group of Lilacs are HUG!! I didn't want to cut them
so I had Brandon take a picture of it. They looked like a bunch of
grapes.
One thing that I did not mention before was that all of these Lilacs are over a 100 years old and I treasure them very much because they are my history. I can know teach my grandchildren about their Great-Great Grandparents and what wonderful people they are.
I couldn't find the picture that I wanted of Grandpa but this one will do just as good. He loved his Great-Grandkids so much, and they loved him just as much in return.
Love you Grandpa!
